Mission Statement
What is our mission?
What is our mission; our goal, our purpose?
Are we a “fun club” or a “competitive club” or both?
Is this a hobby or a religion?
We can say our mission is “to promote Cowboy Mounted Shooting”
events, but what does that mean and what does that mean to you.
This is what it means to us.
Our club will have three sections.
1)
Those who only want to ride and shoot for fun; have no real interest in
the “Old West”, its clothes or traditions.
2)
Those who want to ride, shoot and compete but on a more casual level.
3)
Those who believe in the “Old West”, want competition and follow the
rules and regulations down to the last button hook.
We believe we can be all of these things to most people. It
is just that not all people need to attend a particular function of the day.
We will have four types of activities
1.
Fun Shoots. Bring your horse, a dish to pass and plenty of stories to
share around the fire. Pay for ammo only.
2.
Practice shoots. There will be entry fees and per run fees (to
cover ammo and facilities). Bring your horse and practice up. Dress
up is encouraged.
3.
Competitions. Bring your horse, guns and money. This is for
real. Dress is required. Performance counts. Points count. Buckles
count. Money counts. For those that want to compete, pay. The
competitions are to be self-supporting financially. Payouts and buckles are
dependent on profitability of the shoot, from entry fees and sponsors.
4.
Finally, demos and clinics. This is where we get to give something back
to the sport.
Our mission statement is four fold and based on the idea
that if you want to have fun, this club is for you. If you want to practice and be timed and wager, this club is
for you. If you want to compete and
win a buckle and get points for the nationals, this club is for you.
If you want to give something back by giving demo and clinics to
encourage others to join us, this is the club for you.
While accomplishing our “mission” we intend to
encourage safety, good sportsmanship, healthy competition and “the Cowboy
way”. We love this sport and intend to promote it because we love it and want
to share with others the fun, camaraderie and excitement.
We would be glad to have you join us.
